Wow !!! Not since the Laura canyon book - what a GREAT HISTORY lesson ! Ok, I’m 72 and still playing music- found this because me and my buddy Rick Schottmer (a drummer and guitar/harp player) have recently been putting together an acoustic duo doing what we call surf and hippy tunes . Been doing “on my way home”. On of the early time my wife and I found ourselves in LA , we took a trip up the canyon and on the way (since we just got there at LAX) hit that “country store- wow $13 for a gallon of orange juice (hurst robbery) - nothing was normal priced. Took a trip up the canyon roads mostly looking for the street were Paul Rothchild lived as we had met years before and he had made an invite to me to come stay - being a poor midwesterner with little in the bank - I did not go . That may have been a life changer. Beth and I trek out to San Diego (for Tiki Oasis) and hit mostly Orange County every year for SURF GUITAR 101 convention and now a three day long festival in Long Beach . Maybe we will meet you there - rock and roll keeping us young and ALIVE - From OHIO Great video and Springfield one of the GREATEST groups of that era - I filled the Byrds , Love, Buffalo Springfield , Paul Butterfied blues band, the Ventures and Procol Harum . This video is very REFRESSING !

Michael Allsup is my ❤ friend and a fan of mine. I think he said he joined 3 dog, age 17. He's a really sweet man, with a great sense of humor! I met him thru his cousin Ed in Fresno. Ed and I met doing open mics and became great friends! Covid negatively affected our socialization. I miss our group of musical friends in Fresno. I need to get back there and do some music with all my buddies! 🎶

This is a great group when they read some really good music. I'm a hit songwriter myself and they've had some classics. Is a shame they're not in the rock and roll Hall of Fame cuz they they belong there

In the early 70's, Canned Heat played in Hawaii at the Crater Festival. The next day, some of the members decided to go to Sandy Beach. One of them almost drowned, think it was "Big Fat" but not sure. They were quite high.

I saw them in the very early seventies in Oakland California when I was probably 13 or 14. Danny Hutton was the cousin of a long time friend of my father's. I remember their songs. "One" and others.

Love your vids- just joined. How about some of the Cielo Drive locations where Manson tried to get a record deal out of Terry Melcher etc- and the beach boy ties to Manson? Too morbid maybe but still it’s part of music scene history.

Never bought the story they found each other on Sunset Blvd. Sounds great, but Hollywood is based in fables and lies.

Great video. Subscribed. I can only think of 2 places not included here. The recording studio over near Cedars Sinai on 3rd I think is the street and the recording studio across the street from Crossroads of the World on Sunset. I lived in L.A. 18 years and went to all the spots. The famous bathroom story, that restaurant was Italian when I went ✌️☀️

Their not in the RRHF because they actually were musicians artists and entertainers true professionals even at their worst moments. Proves how stupid ignorant and irrelevant the RRHF has become the committee is made up of strange strange creatures. Fuck the RRHF Three Dog Night blasted the airwaves in early - mid 70's.

Thank you so much for making this video. I have had my eyes opened to the amazing journey of people like Stephen Stills, Neil Young etc who I admired in the early 70s in the UK, when I was still at school (aged about 14) and had no idea of all they had been through and the amazing music produced along the way. A real insight into those iconic days of music, so raw and authentic. Happiest times!

Thank you for this, i'm 65 now and i grew up with 3 Dog Night. I wore all those 8 track tapes out. I still think they were the best of the 70's.

I was a kid during the 3 Dog Night years (in 1969 I turned 9; in 1976 I turned 16). They were huge, but I thought they were squares. I didn't think I was too cool for them (I was a total nerd); I just didn't care for their songs, except for "Mama told me not to come." [How uncool was I? By 1973 I was the world's biggest Uriah Heep fan.]

Saw them last weekend for the second time. The first time was 53 years ago. They’re still good!

My first roommate turned me on to Canned Heat in '73. I wasn't aware of Alan Wilson exactly, and I didn't know that he'd already passed away, but I did (and still do), enjoy their music. Thanks for the video and musical history lesson. I do wish that you'd have been able to include some "cuts" of their music in the video. I know that there's YTube rules dictating using recorded music.

The Doors are, in my opinion, just as important to rock and roll as the Stones or Zep, and in America, maybe even more important.

When first album came out,my 6grade girlfriend and me went crazy,loved them every since so talented so good.
